Lee Dixon has stated that he is hearing from Arsenal’s training ground that Mikel Arteta’s coaching is ‘really top class’, as he told Premier League Productions.
It has been a pretty rough start to life in management for the former Manchester City coach, but he has to be praised for having the bottle and nerve in taking such a pressure-cooker of a job at Arsenal.
Arteta didn’t take over a thriving Arsenal team, but one on its knees and going through a decade of complete and utter stagnation.
Whilst some Arsenal fans are yet to be convinced by the ex-midfielder, they’ll be delighted to hear that he is well-thought-of at London Colney.
“Word that I get back from the training ground, from people who I know that are still there, is that he is a brilliant coach,” said Dixon.
“His coaching is really top class. So, he will improve these players. It’s whether he can get the quality through the door to supplement those youngsters as well.”
Arsenal fans will have to be patient with Arteta because this was never going to be a short-term fix.
The Spaniard has been dealt a pretty bad hand and he needs as many cards on the table as possible in order to get the club out of the mess.
That’s the club backing him in a proper manner in the transfer market, experienced players delivering and not relying on the youngsters to get them out of their current situation.
