According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United have scrapped a medical for Leeds United target Freddie Woodman at Bournemouth.
It’s stated that Bournemouth had agreed a deal to sign Woodman, but it’s not clear whether he would have been a loan or permanent signing.
Woodman had a medical scheduled with the Cherries and was even prepared to fly out to Marbella to meet his new teammates – only for Newcastle to pull the plug.
Martin Dubravka will return for training late after playing for Slovakia at Euro 2020, but has now picked up a foot injury and could miss the start of the new season.
Newcastle have subsequently cancelled Woodman’s move to Bournemouth, seemingly believing that they need him as cover due to Dubravka’s injury.
Steve Bruce does also have Karl Darlow and Mark Gillespie, so Newcastle’s situation isn’t absolutely desperate, and Leeds will be keeping close tabs on this situation.

The Chronicle have this week reported that Leeds submitted a cash bid for Woodman earlier this week as they seek competition for Illan Meslier.
Kiko Casilla has gone, and Woodman is one option on the Leeds radar alongside Valerenga’s Kristoffer Klaesson and Levante’s Dani Cardenas.
Leeds will be relieved in one sense with Woodman not signed up elsewhere, but the news of Dubravka’s injury is a real blow to their hopes.
