Sam Allardyce won his first match in charge of Everton against Huddersfield.

Nomadic Football League midfielder Curtis Woodhouse is confident on Twitter that Sam Allardyce will prove to be a success at Everton after winning his first match in charge of the Toffees.

Allardyce earned a 2-0 win in his first outing as Everton boss on Saturday afternoon, watching from the sidelines as Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dom Calvert-Lewin scored to earn a 2-0 win over newly-promoted Huddersfield at Goodison Park.

It saw Allardyce build on the Toffees’ emphatic 4-0 win over West Ham in the week, with Everton already turning their fortunes on their head by climbing to tenth in the Premier League table.

Replying to a fan on his personal Twitter account, former Birmingham City and Sheffield United midfielder Woodhouse, who has since become a professional boxer, stated that he believes Allardyce “will be excellent” as Everton manager as he has proved a success at other clubs.

Developing a reputation as somewhat of a specialist in saving a side from relegation, Allardyce has kept the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Crystal Palace and Sunderland in England’s top tier despite the threat of the drop.

However, he is somewhat in different territory with the Toffees as they remain in tenth place, with fans’ expectation likely to be nearer the European places.

Everton next face Cypriot outfit Apollon Limassol in the Europa League on Thursday night, in what is a dead rubber of a match for the Toffees as they have already been knocked out of the competition.
