Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrice Muamba has been discussing Newcastle United and the signing of Sven Botman.
After an incredibly lengthy chase, Newcastle finally landed Botman last week in a deal worth £37m.
Muamba is of the opinion that Botman is a top-quality defender who could be fantastic for the Magpies, but he did warn the Tyneside outfit of the dangers of upsetting some of their current crop of players when making these types of blockbuster signings.

“They went and got Sven Botman from Lille a Dutch player who has gone from strength to strength, he is a top-quality defender. When you buy quality players I’m sure there will be players who won’t be happy and will be able to leave the club come the due time,” Muamba said.
Evolution
Unfortunately for Newcastle’s existing players, this is just how a football club evolves when they become mega-rich.
Would Richard Dunne have been very happy when Manchester City signed Joleon Lescott and Kolo Toure in 2009? Probably not, but at the end of the day, those signings were the logical next step for the club at the time.
Yes, Botman arriving could alienate someone like Jamaal Lascelles or Ciaran Clark, and while that’s a shame, it’s what has to happen if Newcastle are to become the elite club that they’re seemingly destined to be.
There may be some players departing St James’ Park this summer, but the reality is that in a few years’ time, these players probably won’t be missed.
