Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has raved about Liverpool-owned winger Harvey Elliott on the club’s official website.

Mowbray was impressed by the performance of Elliott, who joined Rovers on loan from Liverpool in the summer of 2020, during the 2-1 defeat to Norwich City at Ewood Park in the Championship on Saturday.

The 17-year-old winger scored a wonderful solo goal in the 59th minute, leading his Blackburn manager to speak highly of him.

According to WhoScored, Elliott took four shots, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 80.6%, took 67 touches, attempted six dribbles, and put in nine crosses.

Mowbray told Blackburn’s official website about Elliott: “He’s a wonderful talent, he’s a brilliant individual to work with as well. I tell the team to give him the ball, much like I did with Bradley Dack before he got his injury.

“The special talents in the team are generally the ones who make the right decision with the ball, they make the right decisions.

“Harvey has assets that Bradley has: that trust when he has the ball. It was a wonderful performance from Harvey. We’re delighted to be working with him and I hope that he’s enjoying his time here.”

Bright future ahead

Mowbray’s aforementioned comments highlight just how good Elliott is and underlines his potential.

The 17-year-old winger is progressing well at Rovers, and playing regular first-team football in a very competitive and rigorous domestic league such as the Championship is only going to help him become a better footballer.

So far this season, Elliott has made 12 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for Blackburn, scoring three goals and providing four assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
