Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has raved about Liverpool on the Pitch to Post podcast.
Liverpool are set to take on Manchester City on Sunday, in what looks like a huge game for both sides already.
And Bruce waxed lyrical about both sides, suggesting that what Liverpool have done in recent times is nothing short of remarkable.
“The obvious one is that they have two top, top coaches and managers. But more than anything they both have terrific players,” Bruce said.
“With managers we try and put our ideas across, but the more good players you have got the easier it is.
“They have top players right the way throughout and when you see what Liverpool have done in the last couple of years – they won it last year, and the season before they only lost once – they have set remarkable high standards.
“You have to take your hat off to these teams, these are wonderful wonderful football teams.”
Liverpool have shown some vulnerability this term, but yet again they are sat right at the top of the table.
City, on the other hand, have not been able to match their recent standards.
Pep Guardiola’s men are currently occupying an unfamiliar position, and are all the way down in 10th spot in the Premier League table.
A win for Liverpool this weekend would, therefore, be a massive result, as it would put them eight points clear of City at this early stage of the campaign.
