Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe has been praised by Gary Lineker after starring for France in their World Cup win over Australia.

Didier Deschamps watched his side go 1-0 down to the Aussies after just ten minutes, before heroics from the Paris Saint-Germain forward and Olivier Giroud rescued the three points in Group D.

Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe praised for World Cup display

Well, it was Marca in Spain who revealed that Jürgen Klopp is keeping an eye on Mbappe, with El Pais in France claiming that the forward’s uncle has advised him to join Liverpool.

It comes after respected French journalist Julien Laurens told CBS Sports that the 23-year-old wants to leave PSG.

If Liverpool really are interested in Mbappe, then his price tag has probably gone up after a stunning performance against Australia.

The PSG No.7 scored France’s third goal with an excellent header off the post, before surging to the byline just three minutes later to assist Giroud for his second and France’s fourth.

After Mbappe netted his first goal of the 2022 World Cup, Lineker posted the following on Twitter.

We’re also pretty confident it won’t be his last – in fact, we believe Mbappe is the outright favourite to win the Golden Boot – Micah Richards also believes the Frenchman will finish as top scorer in Qatar.

Liverpool have tough Mbappe decision

It has been well documented that Liverpool want to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in 2023 – The Athletic are one source reporting that news, while ESPN have even said the Reds are favourites.

However, they are not in a position to afford both the England international and Mbappe, so Klopp has a tough decision to make in 2023.

Of course, if Mbappe really is available and interested in joining Liverpool, it would be tough to ignore, although Klopp needs midfielders far more than he needs a new striker.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Anfield, as we expect the Reds to make at least one significant signing next year.
