
Some Leeds United fans on social media have been reacting after Harvey Elliott gave his view on Pascal Struijk’s tackle that inflicted a horror injury this weekend.
Elliott dislocated his ankle after a controversial challenge by Struijk, but the youngster seemingly doesn’t blame the Leeds defender one bit.
“It wasn’t his fault whatsoever. Neither was it a red card, just a freak accident. These things happen in football. I’ll be back stronger 100%,” Elliott wrote on Instagram.
It would be so easy for a young player to hold a grudge over something like this – after all, this challenge will essentially cost him months of his career, but Elliott has the ability to see the tackle for what it was.
Struijk didn’t set out to hurt Elliott. It was a genuine attempt to play the ball, and it’s a real shame that the teenager was hurt by the tackle.
Elliott has admitted that it was a freak accident, and in doing that, he’s seemingly earnt the respect of Leeds supporters.
Interestingly, some Leeds fans took this as an opportunity to question Jurgen Klopp, who they believe blew the tackle out of proportion at the time.
