Darren Bent told talkSPORT on Sunday evening that he is ‘surprised’ that Tottenham aren’t pushing to appoint rumoured Everton target, Rafa Benitez.
A lot of names have been linked with the vacant Tottenham and Everton manager posts in recent weeks, or months for those in North London, but Benitez’s name has seemingly avoided the lips of Daniel Levy.
Only last week, it was suggested that Benitez’s chances of becoming Everton were ‘increasing’, whilst those in Tottenham colours saw talks break down with Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso within 48 hours.
And as Tottenham’s managerial search continues to descend into a farce, ex-Premier League striker, Bent, asked why Benitez isn’t being considered by those in the Spurs boardroom.
“There’s one name, which has been linked to Everton that I don’t quite understand because of his connections to the other side of Merseyside,” said Bent.
“But what about Rafa Benitez? I am surprised that Spurs haven’t, at least, gone for him because he has got some pedigree and he has won big trophies.”

Your star man Harry Kane just produced performances that saw him become the top scorer and assist-maker for the Premier League season.
There are well-documented rumours that he wants to leave the club in order to take his game to another level, and there are also recently successful clubs looking for that number nine.
Surely, it should worry those in the North London boardroom? Clearly not!
Instead, they are providing him with another reason as to why he should leave, and given the mess the club is in, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he doesn’t now force that move when the Euros are over.
