Wolves are reportedly ‘very interested’ in signing Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan, with Leeds United also believed to be chasing the right-back.
According to Foot Mercato, Julen Lopetegui is keen to add another right-sided fullback to his ranks this January, with Nelson Semedo currently Wolves’ only option in the position. And the Spanish coach is now keen to bring Wan-Bissaka to Molineux on loan.
Wolves have been linked with Wan-Bissaka for some time. However, the defender has since gone from being frozen out in the first-team squad to being arguably undroppable for Erik Ten Hag, with the £50m signing from Crystal Palace starting the last three Premier League games for United and keeping a clean sheet in all of them.
As mentioned, though, Wolves are not alone in their interest to sign Wan-Bissaka, with 90min claiming that Leeds are also keeping an eye on the 25-year-old defender, who until recently looked like a sure-fire bet to leave Old Trafford this month for greener pastures.
Indeed, there’s still good chance that Wan-Bissaka will leave United this January with Diogo Dalot set to return from injury this weekend. However, the former England youth international’s recent performances for the Red Devils will make a loan deal for Wolves very difficult.
Nevertheless, Wolves stepping up their interest to sign Wan-Bissaka is an encouraging sign for supporters. And given how good the defender has been over the festive period, bringing the 25-year-old to Molineux would be quite the coup for Lopetegui.
Wolves must do all they can to sign Wan-Bissaka on loan
Wan-Bissaka has been something of an enigma for United over the past 12 months. However, as recent performances have shown, there’s still plenty of quality in there ready to be unleashed. And Wolves could do just that if they can secure a loan deal for the defender.
After all, Wolves are in need of a right-back this January, and with Wan-Bissaka flourishing yet also likely to leave this month, the United star is the ideal player to bring in for Lopetegui, who could take the 25-year-old to the next level this season.
