Wolves are reportedly interested in Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, who was recently on loan at Tottenham before Antonio Conte opted against signing the Italian international on a permanent deal.
According to Tutto Atalanta, Julen Lopetegui is eager to add some competition in the goalkeeping department for Jose Sa, with Gollini being explored as an option with the 27-year-old set to return to Bergamo this month after another poor loan spell this season, this time at ACF Fiorentina.
Gollini has made just three Serie A appearances for the Florentine club this season following a disastrous year out on loan with Tottenham, where the north London side chose not to sign the former Atalanta star on a permanent deal as the Italian failed to impress in north London.
And now, Wolves are seemingly interested in signing Gollini as competition for Sa, with Lopetegui keen to strengthen his goalkeeping options for the second-half of the season and to put pressure on his Portuguese no. 1, who this campaign has underperformed.

Indeed, Wolves still, remain in the relegation zone after a dreadful start to the season for the Molineux club. And whilst Gollini would be a good signing and add some much-needed competition for Sa, Lopetegui has much more important matters at hand than bringing in a backup goalkeeper.
As we know, Wolves have the worst goalscoring record in the Premier League this campaign with just 11 goals in 18 matches, and signing a player like Gollini will do little to inspire supporters that change is coming under Lopetegui and during this transfer window.
Wolves signing Gollini would be a massive step in the wrong direction

There’s no denying that Gollini is a good player, with the Atalanta-owned goalkeeper once one of the best in Serie A and considered by many as a potential regular for the Italian national team. However, for Wolves, the shot-stopper is the last thing Lopetegui needs if he is to rebuild the Premier League side this month.
As mentioned, goals are lacking for Wolves this season and are the main reason why the Black Country side finds themselves as low in the Premier League as they do. And signing a goalkeeper would only infuriate supporters given how much the Molineux club need attackers.
