TalkSPORT presenter Alex Crook has told Give Me Sport that Bristol City goalkeeper Daniel Bentley is a target for Wolves this month, with the Championship club’s captain out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
Bentley, 29, has been at Bristol City since the summer of 2019. He has clocked up a huge 143 appearances for the Robins since his move to Ashton Gate from Brentford. Experienced, given his age, with 428 outings to his name.
But with his contract due to expire in the summer, Wolves are interested. Lopetegui’s side are likely to be in the market for a back-up goalkeeper to replace Jose Sa if the Portuguese star becomes unavailable at some point.
TalkSPORT presenter Crook says Bentley is a target for Wolves. That is, despite only keeping 30 clean sheets in 143 games for Bristol City – conceding 207 goals. Not a good record, but not all of the blame can be put down to him.
“I think they are looking to bring in a keeper. Dan Bentley of Bristol City is a name that has been mentioned to me in the last couple of days,” TalkSPORT reporter Crook told Give Me Sport this week, when discussing Wolves.

Rookie goalkeeper Matija Sarkic started for Wolves against Liverpool at Anfield in the FA Cup. But Sarkic has only played 84 times in his professional career at 25, and is unexperienced. It comes after John Ruddy left last summer.
Lopetegui has identified the need for a back-up goalkeeper to Sa. City’s Bentley could be the man to come through the door. But, Bentley has hardly been second-choice throughout his career, given he has amassed so many games.
But in terms of his quality, he would be a really good signing. Especially, given his deal at Ashton Gate expires in the summer. Available on a free then, or on the cheap this month. It depends on whether Bentley is happy as back-up.
