The Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper has fallen down the pecking order at Molineux.
Wolves stopper John Ruddy spoke to reporters following his side’s draw with Everton at Molineux on Saturday, and hinted that his future could lie away from the club, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The 31-year-old joined Wolves on a free transfer in the summer of 2017 after his contract with Norwich City expired, and he played a key role for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, as they romped away with the Championship title, securing promotion back to the Premier League.
Ruddy’s future was plunged into doubt during the off-season, however, when Wolves brought in experienced Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio from Sporting Lisbon.
The 30-year-old started Wolves’ draw with Everton at the weekend, leading to more questions being asked regarding Ruddy’s future at Molinuex.
The former Norwich City man spoke to reporters, and admitted that he has discussed the possibility of leaving the club with Nuno, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“I had an open and honest conversation with the manager about my situation and we’re hopeful of finding a solution for that. I’m more than happy, as long as I’m here, to support the team in any way I can.”
Nuno does have Will Norris at his disposal too, so allowing Ruddy to leave somewhere on loan before the end of the month might just be in every party’s best interest.
