Wolves should have few problems agreeing personal terms with Metz midfielder Boubacar Traore but the Premier League outfit are yet to agree a fee, according to the Express and Star.

Eight months ago, Wolverhampton Wanderers saw an £11 million bid rejected by a club who, at the time, were still fighting against relegation in France’s top flight.

With Metz now a second-tier side, a deal for Traore should, in theory, be far more straightforward this time around. But with the deadline now just hours away, time is hardly on Wolves’ side. They have until 11pm to strike a deal for the Malian midfielder but, as things stand, the two clubs are yet to agree a fee for a man valued in the region of £15 million.

On the upside, personal terms should not pose a problem. Metz president Bernard Serin, meanwhile, admits that the stylish, swaggering Traore has his heart set on a deadline day departure. The 21-year-old was left out of the 4-1 thrashing of Rodez in midweek.

Boubacar Traore in, Leander Dendoncker out at Wolves?

“Discussions continue for Boubacar Traore,” explains Serin, before adding that offers have so far fallen short of Metz’s valuation.

“It’s complex. He wants to leave. With English clubs, negotiations can last until the last moment.”

Traore’s future appears tied to that of Leander Dendoncker.

Wolves’ Midland neighbours Aston Villa seem to be the most likely destination for the rangy, all-action Belgian international. Villa have tabled a £10 million bid for Dendoncker, per the Daily Mail.

But with Wolves aiming to avoid being left short in the centre of the park, Traore may need to arrive first before Dendoncker can make the short trip from Molineux to Villa Park.
