Wolves have interviewed Rob Edwards as they look towards their former defender just as rivals West Bromwich Albion show an interest in him.
Wolves decided that it was time for change earlier this month as Bruno Lage was axed as manager.
A 2-0 defeat at West Ham United proved to be the final straw for Lage and Wolves have been chasing a replacement in recent days.
A deal for Julen Lopetegui won’t be happening now and there have been conflicting rumours about a move for Pedro Martins.

Wolves have interviewed Rob Edwards
What if Wolves went for an English manager though?
There have been calls for Sean Dyche but Wolves are instead looking at somebody who has very clear ties to Molineux.
The Telegraph report that Wolves have interviewed Rob Edwards as they consider him for the managerial post following Lage’s exit.
It’s suggested that talks were held on Wednesday and Edwards is now seriously in contention for the job.
Edwards, 39, hails from nearby Telford and actually joined Wolves as a player back in 2004.
Edwards turned out more than 100 times for Wolves before coming back to the club as a coach once his playing days were over.
After serving as interim boss following Walter Zenga’s exit, Edwards did go and manage AFC Telford United but again returned to Molineux as Under-23 boss in 2018.
A stint with England Under-16’s followed and Edwards then moved on to Forest Green Rovers, guiding them to promotion out of League Two last season.
Watford swooped for Edwards but did what Watford do and sacked him after just 11 games; he won three, drew five and lost three.
Wolves still rate Edwards highly having seen him coaching first-hand, and their interest now sparks a fascinating fight.
iNews claim that West Bromwich Albion are showing an interest in appointing Edwards having sacked Steve Bruce earlier this week.
Wolves and West Brom are bitter rivals and may now find themselves scrapping over Edwards, who has also held talks with Middlesbrough.
Edwards would surely prioritise Wolves over the two Championship clubs but whether Wolves fans would be happy with that move remains to be seen.
