According to The Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Weston McKennie from Schalke in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Wolves have joined Premier League rivals Leicester City in the £20 million race for the 21-year-old midfielder.

The report has added that the USA international – who is “really good at winning balls” and “wins everything”, according to comments made by his compatriot Christian Pulisic on Bundesliga.com in June 2019 – is keen on a move to the Premier League.

Stats

According to WhoScored, McKennie made 24 starts and four substitute appearances in the Bundesliga for Schalke this past season, scoring three goals in the process.

The midfielder made 19 starts and five substitute appearances in the league during the 2018-19 campaign, scoring one goal and providing four assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

The youngster also made four starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for the Bundesliga outfit in 2018-19, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Wolves?

McKennie is a very good midfielder who can hold his own in the middle of the park, and he would give Wolves a physical presence and would enhance their chances of winning matches.

Meanwhile, A Bola has claimed that Braga striker Paulinho is set to join Wolves this summer as a potential replacement for Raul Jimenez, who could move to Manchester United.
