Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with Alex McCarthy of Southampton in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that McCarthy’s recent performances for Southampton in the Premier League have caught the attention of Wolves.

The Wanderers will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship.
As for Southampton, the Saints are in danger of getting relegated to the second tier of English football from the top flight.

Underwhelming signing
McCarthy is a good goalkeeper and has done well in recent times, but the 28-year-old would be an underwhelming singing for Wolves.
After all, the former England Under-21 international was considered not good enough for a regular place in the Crystal Palace first team and was offloaded in the summer of 2017.
John Ruddy is more than a capable goalkeeper, and given his performances in the Championship this season, Wolves manager Nuno should maintain his faith in him.
McCarthy, who earns £40,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, though, would be a decent second-choice goalkeeper at Wolves.
