Chelsea-owned Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham is reportedly on the radar of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Earlier this week, The Sun reported of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in Chelsea-owned Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham.
It was reported that Wolves are interested in signing Abraham from Chelsea in the January transfer window for a fee of £18 million.
The 21-year-old striker joined Villa on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea in the summer transfer window and has scored 16 goals in 20 Championship appearances so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.
One suspects that Chelsea could be tempted to cash in on Abraham for £18m, but The Sun has now claimed of a rule that could prevent Wolves from registering the striker until next season.
According to FIFA rules, a player cannot feature for more than two clubs in a single season.
Abraham played for the Chelsea Under-23 side against their Derby County counterparts in a Premier League 2 game back in August.
According to The Sun, Wolves are trying to check if that appearance will disqualify Abraham from playing for the Wanderers this season.
It seems that the Wanderers, who need to sign a prove goalscorer for the second half of the season, may find it a bit complicated to sign Abraham despite their reported willingness to pay £18m.
