The Wolverhampton Wanderers academy graduate has impressed for the Molineux outfit and for England’s youth teams in recent years.
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has commented on the progress being made by Molineux academy graduate Morgan Gibbs-White, in conversation with Sky Sports News.
The 19-year-old midfielder and England youth international scored his first senior goal for his boyhood club in Wednesday’s 4-0 thumping of Newcastle United in the Premier League Asia Trophy.
After the ball was played into his path following some poor Magpies defending, Gibbs-White emphatically rifled low beyond the reach of Freddie Woodman from just outside the box for the second of Wolves’ four goals.
The goal was yet another positive milestone for the young ace, who in the last two years has helped the Three Lions win the Under-17s World Cup, made his Premier League debut and signed a new contract at Wolves.
“[The goal] helps but it is not the main factor [in his development],” Nuno told Sky Sports News. “He’s a very young talent. He is doing the right things, no problem with that. Of course the goal helps, but it’s not something that will make a change. Morgan is working very, very well.”
Gibbs-White will hope to help Wolves get their hands on a trophy ahead of the 2019-20 season getting under way as Wanderers prepare to play Premier League champions Manchester City in the Premier League Asia Trophy final on Saturday.
In terms of competitive action, Wanderers open their league programme away at Leicester City on Sunday 11 August and, prior to that, face Northern Irish side Crusaders in the second qualifying round of the Europa League.
