Mick McCarthy was sacked after a shocking 5-1 home defeat to local rivals West Brom. Jake Lane believes former QPR manager Neil Warnock is the man to stave off relegation.
Wolverhampton Wanderers should make Neil Warnock their next manager.
It has been reported that they are looking to employ someone just for the short term and with the task of avoiding relegation but I think they should think more long term.
Wolves are far from dead and buried in the scrap for survival and I believe Warnock has shown he has what it takes to win a relegation battle, as it could be argued that if it wasn’t for the whole West Ham United and Carlos Tevez affair back in 2007, he would have kept Sheffield United up.
If Wolves were to be one of the three unfortunate teams to drop out of the league in May then Warnock’s promotion record throughout his career proves he can be the man to lead them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
If the West Midlanders were to get him in now, the fiery Yorkshireman can use the time from now until the start of next season to build his team.
And what further motivation it would be for Warnock to keep Wolves up at the expense of former club Queens Park Rangers.
Getting one over owner Tony Fernandes, who in Warnock’s opinion, never gave him the support needed to be successful would be sweet for the former Crystal Palace gaffer.
Not to mention, the opportunity to prove Rs captain Joey Barton wrong after his attack on his former manager on Twitter which branded him the “Mike Bassett of English Football”.
Do you agree? Who should be the next Wolves manager?
