Just what on earth happened to Leo Bonatini at Wolverhampton Wanderers?

The Brazilian striker enjoyed a brilliant start to life at Molineux after arriving on loan from Al Ahli in the summer of 2017 but his form collapsed like a dying star after netting the winner in a 1-0 victory against Birmingham City on December 2017.

Quite remarkably, Bonatini has not scored a single league goal since then. And it’s a measure of how far his stock has fallen at Wolves that he hasn’t started any of their 12 Premier League games so far this season.

Now, a January exit could be on the cards. According to Fotospor, striker searching Galatasaray sent scouts to watch Bonatini in the recent 1-1 draw away at Arsenal – though he didn’t get off the bench at The Emirates.

No goals in Gold

And with just one goal in all competitions over the last 11 months, coming in an EFL Cup win against Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves should have no qualms about cashing in on a player they bought on a permanent basis for £5 million.

Though Nuno must find a replacement first with Raul Jimenez the only other centre-forward at the manager’s disposal.

The Telegraph reported in October that the former Porto and Valencia boss had prioritised signing a new striker in the winter with Liverpool’s Divock Origi, who rejected Wolves in August, understood to be on the radar again (Liverpool Echo).
