Wolverhampton Wanderers have missed out on Fortuna Wallace for the second year in a row, with the Lazio defender completing a move to Turkish outfit Yeni Malatyaspor.
While Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing at West Ham felt more of an anomaly than a suggestion Woves’ defensive resilience is on the wane, the Molineux faithful would happily welcome a centre-back through the door after perhaps the club’s worst Premier League display under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Lazio News reported Wolves were keen to add Wallace to their ever-growing array of Jorge Mendes clients in the Black Country.
But, one year after a proposed £6.5 million move fell through because of problems obtaining a work permit (Cittaceleste), Wolves and Wallace are once again ships passing in the night.
Given the 25-year-old has yet to be capped by the senior Brazil national team, it felt unlikely the FA would hand him the special dispensation required to play in England – especially after they said “no” in 2019.

Wallace will have to make do with a move to Turkey instead.
Yeni Malatyaspor, after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Super Lig last season, have confirmed the defender has arrived on an initial two-year deal, with an option for a third.
It remains to be seen how much Malatyaspor have paid – if anything. Tuttomercatoweb reports Lazio were so desperate to get Wallace off the wage bill, they were willing to let him go for nothing.
