Jack Price has started just two Championship games this season but admits that he understands why Walter Zenga has dropped him to the bench.
Wolves midfielder Jack Price says he understands Walter Zenga’s rotation policy despite starting just two Championship games this season.
Wolves sit ninth in the second tier after picking up eight points from their first five games under the former Italian international goalkeeper, with Price (below) featuring in just 161 minutes of league action so far.
However, the 23-year-old, entering his third season in the first-team picture at Molineux, accepts that Zenga needs to rotate his squad due to the gruelling fixture schedule lying in wait throughout the season.
“The gaffer has said from the start he likes to rotate the squad especially with so many games,” Price told the club’s official website. “I think all the lads understand that and will just do what they can when they get an opportunity.
“Everyone probably wants to play 46 games, that is what footballers want. But the gaffer has said it is better to play at 100 per cent for 23 games rather than 50 per cent for 46.”
Despite still being in the early stages of the season, Price already appears to be behind Lee Evans, George Saville (below) and experienced Welsh international David Edwards in Zenga’s pecking order.
However, Price seems willing to bide his time and wait for the Italian tactician to hand him the chance to step into the spotlight and impress and his comments in the media won’t have hurt his chances of being given a call by Zenga.
