Wolverhampton Wanderers are undoubtedly a club on the rise.
Wolves Managing Director Laurie Dalrymple spoke exclusively to the Express & Star in the aftermath of his club securing promotion back to the Premier League, and made the bullish claim that they will be looking to do more than just merely survive next term.
The Black Country outfit have been quite simply magnificent this season, and need just one more point to wrap up the Championship title, although Nuno Espirito Santo will be driving his side on to win their remaining three games and reach the 104 points mark.
These must be exciting times to be a Wolves fan, with a busy summer transfer window expected at Molineux.
Nuno already possesses an incredibly strong squad – one that is arguably good enough to survive in the top flight, but Dalrymple insisted that the club will not rest on their laurels, as they look to make progress once again next season, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“We’re looking at doing more than surviving. I think the strategy we’ve had, definitely more pertinently in the past 12 months, has been about building a squad and a structure we think is going to be viable to take further, beyond promotion. We’ve got a really strong nucleus of people that can do that. Undoubtedly continued investment is going to be required, whether that’s this summer or next summer that’s just the nature of the beast.”
Many fancy Wolves to do well in the top flight next term, with a top 10 finish certainly not outside the realms of possibility, and if Nuno manages to successfully strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window, they might just be setting their sights on the Europa League spots.
