Wolverhampton Wanderers sit 13 points clear of Aston Villa in the Championship table.
Wolves legend Steve Bull delivered his verdict on the promotion race in the Championship this season, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star, and labelled Aston Villa’s recent dip in form as ‘alarming’.
Wolves currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, six points clear of second placed Reading, and perhaps more importantly, a massive 13 ahead of fourth placed Aston Villa.
Steve Bruce’s men embarked on a fantastic run of form after their 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Boxing Day, losing just once in the league up until last week’s back-to-back defeats.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, meanwhile, won both of their games last week, bringing an end to their sticky patch of form that included a 4-1 defeat to Villa earlier this month.
Bull, who scored a club record 306 goals for Wolves, shared how the Villans’ recent run will be alarming for everyone connected with the west Midlands outfit, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star:
“The gap to third is up to 13 points and that’s a very pretty lead with just eight games left. Villa slipped up alarmingly against QPR and Bolton despite easily beating Wolves. They can only do it for one game – we’ll do it for a whole season.”
Next up for Wolves is a trip to Middlesbrough on March 30th, whilst Villa travel to Hull City a day later, and both sides will be looking to win their respective games, as they enter the business end of their respective campaigns.
