Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Bruno Lage has admitted that he plans to give former Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever another chance.

When Liverpool snapped up Wolves attacker Diogo Jota in a huge £41million deal, they sent Hoever to Molineux in a £13.5million deal.

Some around Liverpool wondered whether selling Hoever and keeping Neco Williams was the right call.

An exciting young defender who had shown some promise in the Liverpool ranks, However was seen as a real talent for the future.

With 12 Premier League appearances last season, However showed some signs of becoming a first-team regular.

This term, it’s started to go a little wrong for Hoever at Wolves.

Hoever has played just 307 minutes for Wolves in the Premier League this season and has been in Bruno Lage’s bad books.

Hoever was hooked after just 25 minutes against Crystal Palace having suffered an injury, but he was struggling anyway.

Lage believes that Hoever just doesn’t show the right intensity at times in a scathing verdict on his development.

Hoever is only 20 but has now been warned about his application, and will have to improve if he is to make the grade at Wolves.

Lage has now told the Birmingham Mail that he will give Hoever another chance – even though ‘not too many managers would’.

The Portuguese boss wants to move on from the Palace debacle and try to get Hoever and Wolves moving in the right direction.

Wolves take on Watford in the Premier League tonight and it’s unclear whether Hoever will be selected to play.

Either way, it currently looks like Liverpool did make the right decision in offloading Hoever after all, with the Wolves boss clearly not impressed.
