Wolves left Villa Park with a point after a 1-1 draw.
Wolves’ Carl Ikeme
Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has commented on what it was like to play at Villa Park for the first time in a senior game, and discussed the reception he received from Aston Villa’s supporters, the Express and Star reports.
Walter Zenga’s men came away from their Midlands rivals with a point after Helder Costa’s penalty cancelled out Jonathan Kodjia’s opener for the home side, which also came from the spot.

And while Ikeme would perhaps be forgiven for being less than satisfied about the game after watching his teammates dominate the second-half, the 30-year-old suggested that the derby had been a positive experience for him.
“It was a proper derby. Sometimes they can be a bit cagey but it was exciting to play in and I’m sure it was exciting to watch. There was a lot of drama and controversy,” he said, as reported by the Express and Star.

“The Villa fans were alright to be fair, quite friendly. It’s not like Millwall or anything like that! Just a bit of banter, I’m a big boy and I can take it!”
Although the narrative the game took meant that Zenga may have been slightly disappointed with a draw, he will be pleased that the side managed to avoid a defeat that would have arguably turned their recent slump into a run.
Had their finishing been better in the second-half, they would have surely come away from Villa Park with the three points, so it is safe to say that the performance should give Wolves plenty of belief going into what promises to be a hugely challenging game away at Brighton on Tuesday.
