Wolves want to appoint Julen Lopetegui and executive chairman Jeff Shi has jetted off to Spain to try and convince him into a deal.
Bruno Lage was given his marching orders last weekend , just 24 hours after a dismal 2-0 defeat away at West Ham United.
A poor start to the season saw Lage lose his job but a replacement hasn’t yet been secured.
Steve Davis and James Collins were in caretaker charge for Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea and fans are looking to see an appointment soon.

Wolves want to appoint Julen Lopetegui
The top candidate for the job is clearly Julen Lopetegui.
Sky Sports reported last week that Lopetegui is the top choice for Wolves as they chase a new boss in the coming days.
Lopetegui was then sacked by Sevilla after a disappointing start to the season, but almost a week on there has been no movement on a deal with Wolves.
The Daily Mail then claimed that a family matter in Spain is holding up the move even with Lopetegui keen on heading to England.
The Mirror now claim that Wolves executive chairman has flown to Spain for talks with Lopetegui in an effort to convince him into the move.
Wolves ultimately want to know whether Lopetegui is ready to jump straight into another job after leaving Sevilla.
Lopetegui has been admired by Wolves for many years now and midfielder Ruben Neves has been quoted by the Mail as calling him a ‘special’ coach.
If Wolves decide to move away from a deal for Lopetegui, then The Mirror claim that Pedro Martins would be viewed as a backup.
Martins was in talks to become Hull City boss last week and looked to be nailed-on for the job before talks broke down.
Formerly of Olympiacos, Martins is yet another Portuguese boss so links to Wolves maybe aren’t a huge surprise, and he may be waiting to learn what happens with Lopetegui.
