Wolverhampton Wanderers have plummeted to 17th in the Championship table after a horrendous run of results.
Wolves interim boss Rob Edwards has offered high praise for midfielder Dave Edwards, after he was utilised in a more advanced role than he was under previous manager Walter Zenga, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Midlands side are in the midst of an alarming dip in form, after a run of six games without a win has seen them drop down to 17th position in the Championship table, but the form of the 30-year-old Wales international has been one of the few positives.
Temporary boss Edwards spoke to reporters, and explained how he wants his namesake to continue getting forward as much as possible, after he scored the equaliser during Wolves’ 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, as quoted by the Express & Star:
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ David Edwards celebrates with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
“He was outstanding. He topped the running, he topped the high-intensity running, his energy is second-to-none. And he’s the man who pops up on big occasions with important goals. Another reason behind trying to get further bodies forward is that the goals need to come from a range of people. He’s obviously someone who’s very good at arriving into the box, so we’ve got to try and use that. The further forward we can get Dave Edwards, the better.”
The Molineux outfit will certainly need Edwards to be at his best over the coming weeks if Wolves are to pull clear of any kind of relegation trouble.

Their next two fixtures are very much winnable games, on paper at least – at home to Derby County and a trip to Preston North-End.
With just three points separating Wolves from the relegation zone, at least four points will be required from those two outings to allow Rob Edwards’ men a little breathing space, and build some momentum as they head into the busy Christmas period.
