Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced a deal that will see 10 of their games be broadcast on pay-per-view in China, as reported by the Express & Star.

The Chinese takeover of Wolves over the summer has already seen some exciting things happen around Molineux, with new manager Walter Zenga and the influx of talent from the transfer window being just a few.

The club have been one of the most talked about in the media for months now, and this latest groundbreaking news will only serve to increase that.

The broadcaster in question is Letv Sports and the deal will begin immediately, with today’s clash against Aston Villa as well as the games against Blackburn Rovers and Derby County in the next few weeks set to be shown.

Managing director Laurie Dalrymple has spoken about the deal and what it means for the club going forward.

He told the Express & Star: “We’re delighted to complete the formalities with Letv Sports on this TV rights deal.

“It marks an important first step in the club’s long-term strategy of building the Wolves brand in China.

“Millions of Chinese citizens will be introduced to Wolves for the first time, and through the assistance of colleagues from Fosun we’re in a great position to capitalise on this interest through the creation of the club’s first Weibo page.

“The outline details of this TV deal were first shared by Jeff Shi at our last Fans’ Parliament, along with early plans for Wolves to potentially be involved in a pre-season tournament in China.”

Owner Jeff Shi has confirmed his intentions to turn Wolves into one of the biggest clubs in England, even hoping that they will one day surpass sides like Manchester United.

Whilst it is great for fans to hear that, the important thing is that they get the job done on the pitch and that mission continues today against Aston Villa.
