It’s been a miserable few weeks for Wolverhampton Wanderers but at least the return of Jack Price has put a smile on the fans’ faces.
Wolves midfielder Jack Price has Tweeted that he is delighted to be able to return to training after weeks out of first-team contention.
The 22-year-old hasn’t made an appearance since being taken off midway through the first-half in a 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park against Newcastle United in late September, with the ambitious Midlanders losing four of their seven Championship games in his absence, a run which cost divisive manager Walter Zenga (below) his job.
As it stands, former Wolves centre-back and current interim head coach Rob Edwards will remain in the dugout for their upcoming clash against Derby County on Bonfire Night and, although Price’s return is unlikely to set off many fireworks at the iPro, he will certainly help shore up a side that has conceded too many crucial goals in recent weeks.
The midfielder started 20 Championship games last season in what was his second campaign at senior level and he admitted that he is excited by the prospect of returning to action at the earliest opportunity.
It seems that the fans share his anticipation, with many Wolves supporters demanding that Price be reinstated to a midfield that almost exclusively consisted of Dave Edwards, Romain Saiss and Prince Oniangue towards the latter stages of Zenga’s short lived stint at Molineux, with the Italian’s lack of rotation a point of consternation among some sections of the support.
