Wolverhampton Wanderers wing-back Ruben Vinagre has been named in the Portugal squad for their Under-20s World Cup in Poland this summer.

The 20-year-old arrived at Molineux in the summer of 2017 on an initial season-long loan from Monaco and made his senior debut on 8 August in an EFL Cup victory against Yeovil Town.

Vinagre seldom featured for Wolves in their Championship-winning season, making just 14 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt) but the club made the move permanent the following summer, testament to his immense potential at the time.

The Shropshire Star reported how Wolves landed the Portuguese – who signed a five-year contract – for a fee of £2million and this season he has come in leaps and bounds, featuring in 16 Premier League games (Transfermarkt).

With Wolves having sealed an impressive seventh placed finish in the table and making it all the way to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, the future looks bright and having young players of Vinagre’s calibre is no doubt essential for continuing to prosper on and off the pitch.

The West Midlanders announced the news on their Twitter feed:
