A number of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Newcastle United’s somewhat familiar-looking third kit following its unveiling on Tuesday.

For much of their history, Wolves’ home colours have been their distinctive gold shirts, and the Magpies’ latest third kit offering is a very similar shade to that often used by Wanderers.

As stated by the Newcastle website, the orange shirt “features a vibrant graphic of the St. James’ Park roof; depicting the huge structure of steel and glass structure that reaches out over the Milburn Stand and Leazes End”.

Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles modelled the new third kit alongside Switzerland defender Fabian Schar and Wales left-back Paul Dummett, as the club unveiled the new kit on social media on Tuesday afternoon.

The announcement of the third kit comes just days after United unveiled their green away kit – which they wore for the first time during Saturday’s defeat to Preston.

Here is what the kit looks like, as posted on Newcastle’s Twitter feed:

And here is some of the reaction from Wolves fans to their fellow Premier League side’s offering:

Newcastle’s pre-season friendly against Hibernian on Tuesday was their penultimate pre-season game of the 2019-20 programme, after which they take on Saint Etienne and then get their Premier League season under way against Arsenal at St James’ Park.

As for Wolves, their next game is their Europa League second qualifying round second leg against Northern Ireland’s Crusaders this Thursday, and should they progress, the first leg of their third qualifying round will take place the following Thursday, three days before their Premier League opener away at Leicester City.
