McCarthy managed Wolves between 2006 and 2012, and is now in charge of the Republic of Ireland.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that former manager Mick McCarthy, currently in charge of the Republic of Ireland, will be featuring on this week’s official Old Gold Club podcast.
The 60-year-old is remembered fondly among the Wolves fanbase for his spell in charge at Molineux between 2006 and 2012, sealing a spot in the Championship playoffs in his first season despite an initially depleted squad.
In 2009, McCarthy succeeded in securing promotion to the Premier League as champions of the second tier and kept Wolves in the top flight the following two seasons before parting company with the club in February 2012.
The official Wolves website confirmed that McCarthy, who has also managed Millwall, Sunderland and Ipswich Town, will become the 21st OGC inductee when he joins regular podcast hosts Mikey Burrows and Chris Iwelumo on Wednesday evening’s episode.
Wolves posted a Twitter message with the announcement, the article link and a video clip of McCarthy’s best press conference moments:
Needless to say the reaction from the Wolves contingent was largely positive:
