Reds coach Pep Lijnders used to work with the Wolves midfielder at Porto.
Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders has described Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves as the kind of player that would be a good fit for their team.
The Portugal international joined the Molineux outfit in the summer of 2017 and was a key component in their triumphant Championship title-winning campaign in 2017-18.
Neves has equally impressed in the Premier League this term, making 29 top-flight appearances (Transfermarkt) and helping Wolves up into the top half of the table.
Lijnders, who worked with Neves during his seven-year coaching spell at Porto, told O Jogo: “I know him very well, his ambition, his passion for the game, his professionalism.
“I know what he gives to the team and this type of player always interests us. I recognised him when I saw him at Wolves. I saw technique, professionalism. I saw the 2013-14 player I knew.”
While the Reds coach did not declare outright that the Premier League title hopefuls are interested in Neves himself, such comments will always tend to lead to speculation and gossip amongst fans and pundits.

Liverpool beat Porto – Ljinders’ and Neves’ former side – 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday night, with the return leg set to take place next Wednesday at the Estadio do Dragao.
This weekend both Jurgen Klopp’s side and Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges will be in Premier League action, the former hosting Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday and the latter playing away at Southampton on Saturday.
