Wolves have enjoyed a superb Premier League season and it looks as though it’s just the start for the Molineux club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have enjoyed a wonderful first season back in the Premier League and if the recent comments by club chairman Jeff Shi are anything to go by, it looks as though it’s just the start for the Molineux club.

Wolves won the Championship title last season and went up along with Cardiff City and Fulham but, while the latter two have struggled in the top flight and been relegated back to the second tier, the West Midlanders have had a season to remember.

Under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo, Wanderers finished seventh in the Premier League table and made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, claiming various notable scalps along the way such as that of Champions League finalists Liverpool.

Wolves posted a video on their Twitter feed of Shi talking about the club’s importance and legacy within the Fosun group and his response, in which he disclosed a conversation with Guo Guangchang, prompted a delighted response from the Old Gold faithful.

“I think we can see that football is special. Fosun can have many assets in the portfolio and some of them are much bigger than Wolves, but you see Wolves can give Fosun a lot of marketing exposure to the media and public,” said Shi.

“Football is a special thing, and it’s special for us. We had a discussion with chairman Guo and I asked him, ‘if Wolves win everything in the world, will you sell it at a good price?’ He said ‘No, I will keep Wolves in Fosun forever.’ Now it looks like Wolves will be becoming a kind of legacy for the Fosun group, so it’s not like something we buy and sell.”

Here is how some Wolves fans reacted to Shi’s comments on the social media platform:
