Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper Conor Coady has spoken out on his England omission, insisting he does not feel hard done by, but some Wolves fans remain incredibly bemused by his absence in the wake of an interesting new statistic being published.

The Wolves defender has been impressive for his club this season, captaining the 2017-18 Championship winners for each of their 30 Premier League games so far this season, plus in five FA Cup games and two Carabao Cup games (Transfermarkt).

Thanks in part to his efforts, Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges are seventh in the standings and in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they will face fellow Premier League side Watford at Wembley Stadium.

When England manager Gareth Southgate named his squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro, Coady’s omission raised some eyebrows, but the player himself said he was not overly concerned.

“It’s not something that I think I’m hard done by, I just keep getting on with it and as long as I’m doing well for Wolves and helping Wolves improve that’s all I’m bothered about,” Coady told the official Wanderers website.

The Whoscored Twitter account, however, tweeted an eye-opening statistic about Coady, which makes his Three Lions omission all the more baffling:
