Wolves may still be looking for their first league win since promotion, but there is no question that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have plenty to smile about after an incredibly spirited draw with the Premier League champions at Molineux on Saturday.

Manchester City may have been the team that relegated Wolves the last time they were in the top flight, but Nuno’s side would have been optimistic about their chances against the title holders having taken them to penalties in the Carabao Cup last season during their Championship title win.

It was a very open game, with Raheem Stirling seeing a stunning effort being kept out by an equally-superb save from Rui Patricio, while Raul Jimenez had a goal ruled out for offside before the break.

The points would ultimately be shared, but only after Aymeric Laporte had cancelled out Willy Boly’s controversial opener for the home side. The goal should not have stood, but it cannot be denied that the cross from Joao Moutinho was a piece of brilliance that many fans felt summed up his display.

The Portuguese duo of Moutinho and Ruben Neves would have known how crucial their performances would be in the middle of the park if Wolves were going to get a positive result, and they were unquestionably up to the task.

Many of the Wolves fans felt that the 31-year-old in particular was sensational throughout the contest, and several have taken to Twitter to laud the club for getting him for just £5 million (fee reported by BBC Sport) during the summer.
