Wolverhampton Wanderers couldn’t surprise Liverpool on Sunday night as they fell to a heavy 4-0 defeat.

Nuno Espirito Santo took his side to Anfield having beaten Arsenal away from home last week, and was looking to take another scalp.

However, Wolves were 1-0 down at half time to Mohamed Salah’s opener, and it only got worse after the half-time break.

Gini Wijnaldum and Joel Matip added to the scoreline, before a Nelson Semedo own goal compounded the misery.

Wolves missed Raul Jimenez on the day, and they continue to post mixed results since Nuno went from a five-man defence to a 4-2-3-1.

There really weren’t many positives for Wolves fans to take from the defeat, but they did find one – and it was that Jota didn’t score!

Wolves sold the Portuguese attacker to Liverpool over the summer, and he has been in blistering form for the Reds – but was only a late substitute last night.

Jota didn’t find the net against his former club, and Wolves fans picked it out as possibly the only positive or even a ‘bonus’, with some thanking God that he didn’t rub salt in the wounds by scoring.
