Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that defender Ryan Bennett has committed his future to the club.

The 28-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half year contract which sees him commit to the Premier League high-flyers until 2021, according to the club website.

Bennett joined Wolves on a free transfer from Norwich last year and has made 50 appearances for the club, including 16 of this season’s 17 Premier League games (Transfermarkt).

Last season, the centre-back won a spot in Nuno Espirito Santo’s team towards the end of October and proved instrumental en route to the Championship title and promotion to the top flight.

The former England Under-21 international made 33 appearances for Wanderers last term, which included a dramatic last-minute winner in the 2-1 triumph at Bristol City last December.

Following the announcement on the Wolves website and Twitter feed, some of the club faithful took to the social media platform to celebrate the news:

Bennett will be hoping to keep featuring for the league’s seventh-placed side heading into the busy festive period, with fixtures against Liverpool, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace coming up between now and New Year’s Day.
