Wolverhampton Wanderers recovered from a couple of poor displays to beat Cardiff City 2-0 at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Defeat at Huddersfield Town in midweek had left some Wolves fans furious, but they’ll have been delighted with the performance on Saturday afternoon.

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo made some bold changes, bringing in Ruben Vinagre at left wing back and Adama Traore at right wing back, whilst Romain Saiss and Morgan Gibbs-White came in for Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

It was two more regular starters who did the damage though, as Raul Jimenez teed up Diogo Jota to sweep home the opener following some outstanding interplay.

Just moments later, the duo were at it again as Jota set up Jimenez to fire into the net from close range, and that’s how it stayed as Wolves couldn’t quite find the third.

Nuno’s gamble paid off, and he may have unlocked a new weapon in his side, as winger Traore flourished in the wing back role, as it enabled him to drive forward from a deeper position and use his pace to devastating effect.

His end product remains inconsistent, but his pace terrified the Cardiff defence and left Wolves fans marvelling at his display.

Supporters took to Twitter to suggest that Traore was ‘scary’ and ‘a menace’, even adding that it was a magnificent, masterclass performance whilst calling him ‘super human’.
