The former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace striker looks set for a return to football.
Reports emerged today, via the Express and Star, that former Newcastle and Crystal Palace striker Shola Ameobi is currently on trial with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 33-year old has been training with the club with a view to signing a short-term deal, as Kenny Jackett bids to add experience to his front line.
The former England Under-21 international spent the bulk of his career at Newcastle, in a spell spanning 14 years, but left last summer after falling out of favour on Tyneside.
He signed a one-year deal with Turkish side Gaziantep last August but only stayed for four months, citing family reasons as the cause of his early exit.
A return to the Premier League then followed when he reunited with former boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace, but he made just four appearances and has been without a club since June.
Molineux now looks set to be his new home, and he is expected to line up for the club’s Under-21 side against Swansea City on Monday.
The reaction from Wolves fans on social media wasn’t exactly overjoyed at the prospect of a striker who has managed just 84 goals in 412 career appearances joining the ranks.
