Will Nottingham Forest be the new Wolves?

Benfica's midfielder Joao Carvalho arrives to give a press conference at Luz stadium in Lisbon, on December 4, 2017, on the eve of the Champions League match, group A, SL Benfica vs Basel.

Nottingham Forest have linched a double deal to sign Benfica duo Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves.

Unveiling the duo along with a new kit, Forest made good on the rumours which first emerged a fortnight ago over the pair making moves to the City Ground.

Forest have spent heavily, signing Carvalho for £13 million, with Goncalves arriving on loan.

It is reminiscent of Wolves’ approach last season, bringing in players from top level Portuguese clubs to fast-track their promotion charge.

They already have a proven promotion winner in charge in former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka and now they are adding higher quality players.

It worked for Wolves, with the Molineux side earning promotion as champions.
