Wolverhampton Wanderers’ reward for their 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup is a trip to either Shrewsbury Town or Stoke City in the next stage.

The hosts opened the scoring in Monday night’s encounter at Molineux through Raul Jimenez, who made the most of an error by Reds midfielder James Milner.

Divock Origi levelled for the visitors six minutes after the break but Ruben Neves edged his side ahead not long after thanks to a ferocious long-range effort.

Wolves held out until the final whistle to knock Jurgen Klopp’s side out and deny the Premier League leaders the opportunity of a potential treble.

Meanwhile, the Shrews held the Potters to a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s encounter, forcing a replay at the Bet365 Stadium next Tuesday.

The Shropshire side currently sits 16th in League One, while Stoke are 14th in the Championship table, so Premier League Wolves will be favourites whichever opponent they get.
