Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Leicester City 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Wolverhampton Wanderers ended their pre-season preparations on Saturday afternoon with a promising 1-0 victory over Premier League outfit Leicester City at Molineux.

Having secured exciting signings such as Willy Boly, Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota this summer, Wolves fans are looking forward to the new season – and even more so after Saturday’s victory.

Facing off against recent Premier League champions Leicester City, Wolves claimed a 1-0 victory at Molineux as Jota’s superb run from his own half saw him tee up Ivan Cavaleiro to bend home a stunning long-range winner.

With exciting attacking options and a clean sheet against Premier League opposition, Wolves fans have every reason to be optimistic this season, and the campaign gets underway against Middlesbrough next weekend.

New addition Jota is one of the most exciting signings made by Wolves this summer, with the Portuguese attacker penning a season-long loan deal from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

Jota, 20, hit nine goals in 38 games under new Wolves boss Nuno during a loan spell at Porto last season, and the pair have reunited at Molineux for the season.

Touted for a huge future, Jota looks set to have a huge impact this season if his performance against Leicester is anything to go by, as he was bright, dangerous and ultimately set up the winning goal.

During and after the match, Wolves fans took to Twitter to share their excitement at seeing Jota’s display against Leicester, backing him and compatriots Cavaleiro and Helder Costa to run riot in the Championship, with some even joking that he is better than Leicester star Riyad Mahrez.
