The Telegraph claims that Wolves are eager to add to their attacking line and have looked at the 29-year-old as a potential permanent transfer.
It is said that Austin will leave St Mary’s this month and the relationship with the club is such that they will not price him out of a move.
One Wolves fan admitted that he would ‘love’ it if the club were to sign Austin because it would signal ‘good business’ in the transfer window.
Another supporter stated that the experienced man isn’t the ‘long-term’ answer for Wolves, but for a six-month deal, he could help Nuno’s side push up the table.
According to transfermarkt, Austin has scored 148 goals during his career across the English leagues, including 34 strikes from 97 Premier League matches.
Over the course of this season, the former QPR man has played 16 league matches, scoring two goals, but he has only started two games under new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.
