Wolves’ summer spending spree is yet to pay off, with the team sitting narrowly above the relegation zone.

The success stories of players signed by Walter Zenga are few and far between, with several struggling even before Paul Lambert took over with fresh ideas.

One player Lambert felt he could do without was midfielder Prince Oniangue, who signed from Reims.

He was sent on loan in January to Ligue 1 side Bastia, after 10 appearances for Wolves and two goals.

Last night Oniangue scored for Bastia in a 2-2 draw with Nantes, his third goal in seven appearances for his loan side.

He played all 90 minutes of last night’s draw, winning five aerial duels and making two interceptions.

Wolves meanwhile are struggling badly for form, and have scored only one goal in their last four games, all of which have been at home.

They are in 20th place, just two points above the drop zone, and complacency is quickly turning to concern as teams around them pick up points.
