Wolverhampton Wanderers came from behind with just four minutes to go to beat Brentford 2-1 in the Championship.
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert
Wolves fans have been taking to Twitter to heap praise upon Ivan Cavaleiro for the impact that he made during the club’s victory over Brentford on Tuesday, and urge Paul Lambert to make sure that the 23-year-old starts the side’s next game.
With 30 minutes to go at Griffin Park, Wolves were one goal behind against the Bees, prompting Lambert to turn to Cavaleiro, who replaced George Saville.
The Portugal international arguably made a major impact on how the rest of the game played out, as he managed to cause the home side’s defence a host of problems.
Wolves managed to get back on level terms with four minutes to go as Matt Doherty scored from a cross from Ben Marshall – who was also only brought on as a substitute.
And it was Cavaleiro that set up the winner in the 89th minute. Getting down to the byline, the winger showed a tremendous amount of vision to avoid putting the ball into the congested six yard box and instead find Helder Costa lurking just inside the penalty area.

The forward proceeded to smash the ball home to give Lambert’s men a massive victory in their quest for survival. And while the fans were obviously delighted with the win, they made clear to the manager that it is now time for Cavaleiro to get back into the starting lineup.
The wide-man has not started a game since January, and not played a full 90 minutes since December, but based on his showing against Brentford, he is arguably one of the players who can drag them completely away from danger.
