According to a report from 90min, Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to sign a new central defender this summer.
Wolves had another extraordinary campaign last season as they finished seventh in the league and made it into the quarter-finals of the Europa League despite a fairly small squad.
Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking for reinforcements in various positions and it looks like an addition in central defence is high on his wish list.
The report claims Wolves are looking to sign one of Atletico Madrid’s Stefan Savic or Felipe this summer. The duo have been brilliant in Diego Simeone’s well-drilled Atleti side and it’s no surprise they are attracting interest.
The Colchoneros have reportedly made it clear they won’t entertain any offers for Jose Gimenez. However, Savic and Felipe could both be sold to balance the club’s books in the current financial climate.
Savic knows the Premier League well. The Montenegro international spent a season at Manchester City, playing 21 times in all competitions in the 2011-12 season.

He moved to Fiorentina after just one season at the Etihad before making a big-money move to Atletico Madrid in 2015. Savic has been incredible for Atleti and has become one of La Liga’s most reliable centre-halves.
Felipe, on the other hand, only joined Simeone’s side last year. The Brazilian played 33 times for Atleti last term, more than any other central defender at the club. Now 31, Felipe has tons of experience and would be a solid addition, despite his age.
Wolves fans are thrilled at being linked to two La Liga defenders. Some are concerned over the duo’s age but that hasn’t stopped them dreaming of seeing them at Molineux next term.
