Wolverhampton Wanderers fans on Twitter have expressed a desire to see their club snap up Manchester City legend Yaya Toure.

The Ivory Coast midfielder, who has won three Premier League titles, will leave the Etihad on a free transfer this summer after eight brilliant years, Pep Guardiola confirmed on Friday.

The 34-year-old has scored 62 goals and grabbed 32 assists in 229 Premier League appearances.

Wolves will be locking horns with England’s elite next season after Nuno Espirito Santo’s side won promotion back to the top flight last month.

Ruben Neves is arguably Nuno’s best and most-sought after player, and fans of the Molineux club are dreaming about seeing the towering Toure alongside the Portuguese schemer in midfield next term.

There’s no denying that luring Toure to Wolves would be an outstanding piece of news, but is it likely? Well, not really.

Not only is the former Barcelona star well past his best, but he is earning around £220,000 per week, according to Total Sportek.

Wolves aren’t short of a few bob and can afford to pay their players handsomely, but can they really compete with, say, a mega-rich Chinese club if they express an interest in the legendary figure?
